It's me, VampireHunterD. I've been logged in but everyone seems to be idling.
I'll be trying to spruce up my territory soon.
If anybody here wants to find me, just click my profile and AIM me or add me on myspace!

Yes, I've been around that place a LONG while. And to see all the familiar names on here, even if it's been a while. Amby, Trippy, Beka, Ange, Adrick, Jear. Ohwow. Flashbacks. :D
Had to join just so I could post here.

I was suprised when I found this journal.
Moved from the burbs into NYC.

Wow, opening a can of worms here
I can't believe the names I'm seeing. I was Celestial on Global way back in the days. And yes, many of my RL friends were formed from that crazy mush! Bomber is in England and I' m sure you'll all be seeing her here soon when I catch her up. Nice to see everyone!

ahh, the good ol' days
The days when I spent hours and hours on global mush. I joined in January of 1994, when I was almost 17, a junior in HS. My addiction reached its peak when I was about 20 or 21 at the University of Texas at Austin. Then I joined a crazy church in 1998 and never had time for anything outside of the church. I lost my best friend & roommate b/c of that stupid church. So in 1999 my parents got me out with an intervention and I was free. I started dating Andrew (a definite non-musher) in Jan 2000 and we got married in June of that year. The church had really pulled me out of my global mush addiction, so since 1998 I haven't really logged on. Chatting on the internet just isn't as exciting for me anymore. I never remember to log onto yahoo messenger and I only check myspace when old friends from high school or cousins send me messages. I hate myspace, btw.
Thanks to Beavis for pointing out this place.

Jumping on the Wagon
So it seems every few weeks or so someone else randomly shows up so here I am too. I spent way too much time in high school and the beginning of college on Global. I was Lori-Jo, go figure, and sometimes Bubba - which was the first character I used for a few weeks courtesy of Beka. It's a small world and although I do keep in touch with a few people through various methods it's nice and interesting to see who is still out there. See you around!

I was on GlobalMUSH (as Attica) from 1995 to about 1998 (or 1999), when Global seemed to disappear. Of course, at that time I had also started a family, so that took priority. I remember Alcatraz (of course, as he was my best friend from High School) because he was the one who got me addicted to the whole thing. I also remember trippy as he was the admin...
I logged in again just to check things out and thought it was great. I'll be sure to check in from time to time. I forgot how much fun it can be. I turn 30 in September, but I still remember the good times that I had on Global as a teenager...the beginnings of the internet....ahhh...

holy crap. i had no idea anyone cared about globalmush any more.
just for the record, I started global in January 1991 on a decstation 2100.
It's been up continuously since then aside from about a month one summer
where someone dumped the machine in a bathtub while i was away on vacation.
Back then, it was a beast of a program and pretty much took up the whole
machine; now it's not even noticeable, and that and nostalgia are I guess
the only reasons I've continued to keep it running over the years...
I saw it referenced in wikipedia.. is it really the oldest social mu* still around?

I was having a sort out in my folks place the last time I was home
Found a little bit of paper I used to have all the names and addresses on...completely out of date now, but I thought it would be fun to see what happened if I plugged afew names into google...and low and behold here I am :-)
So if you are/know any of the following:
Noname, rikfast, amiga, pealis, gadget, frosty snowman, ed, happiness, elzbeth, punkin, starlen, johanna, nikita, leigh, heathen, jongleuse, headcase, zantac,
Or any one else who remembers me :-)
I've just started a group on facebook, so if anyone wants to to see what anyone else looks like now, they can....though seeing I've just started it, you can only see what I look like!!! :-)
Ps quite happy for one of the mods to take over the facebook group if they desire...just to keep the hierarchy in place :-D

It's been years... a lot of years. I was Laemia way back in the day, Claudia in rl - always. Started around '94, then dropped off the face of the planet. I've gone back & looked around a couple times, but the place was pretty empty. Hope to get back in touch with some of you. Good times. :)

GlobalMUSH is currently running TinyMUX 1.4, making our name somewhat
of a misnomer. We're going to keep it the way it is for historical
reasons. :-) Be advised that you have just connected to one of the
oldest "MUSH"es around. We are over 7 years old, and running with our
original database. Someone should tell Global_Goddess to dust in
the main nexus!
Last connect was from 126.96.36.199 on Tue Aug 17 03:34:55 1999.
MAIL: You have no mail.
A desk and chair, a soft cot, a Persian floor rug. Strung between two rafters is a hammock...the small type, that holds two sleeping comfy, seat 3 or 4 okay, and sleep three if they're all REALLY good friends...not the VW Bug size. And only two feet or so off the floor, so no great fall if you manage to roll out of it.

The Set.? Just my @doing. :) It's always nice to refind a place, and find they haven't bothered to be rude and recycle/reaped me.
I guess I better finish coding the Coffee Maker now. :)
